Increase the Harvest of Your Righteousness

An ancient sage told of the story of “Ten of the Hardest things that have been created in the World!” It goes like this :

The Rock is hard, but if it is struck by iron, the rock will be shattered. Iron too is hard, but fire will soften it. Fire is powerful, yet it is extinguished by water.

Water is heavy, but it is not the clouds that carry it? Clouds are thick, yet it is the wind that scatters them. For at times, the Wind is strong, but our human bodies can resist it.

Our Bodies are strong, yet over time, fear crushes it. Fear is a very powerful force, yet wine banishes it. Wine is strong until a long sleep loosens its grip. Death is the stronger of all, yet Charity will deliver a soul from death.

Today’s blog post will attempt to reveal how and why charity [agape] is unquestionably the most powerful spiritual virtue for the followers of The Master. My prayer is that somehow, and in some small way, this message will deeply move you and bless you in your witness for Christ. Amen.

Agape

This unconditional expression of love is one of the most powerful life-changing expression that flows from our Creator to willing human vessels. This spiritual virtue is one of the very basic ways, that a faithful follower of The Master, who have been conditioned over time, are able to yield their wills to God for the benefit of others.

It is in our random acts of kindness on behalf of others that we truly emulate The Master while becoming empowered by His presence and spirit in service. “As for me, I shall behold Thy face in righteousness; I will be satisfied with Thy likeness when I awake.” [Psalm 17:15]

Agape [charity, righteousness] unites us with God for it is by this divine connection, we can love Him and others. For it is God’s love that shatters and soften the “Stoney hearts” within us, thus delivering our souls from death.

Only Righteousness can save a Soul

In Micah 6:10 there are two questions that are asked by the prophet which require an appropriate response! “What shall I say about homes of the wicked filled with treasures gained by cheating?” What about the disgusting practice of measuring out grain with dishonest measures?

Our major Scripture text for this blog post is Proverb 10:2 which clearly articulates the answers to both question that is posed in Micah 6:10!

“Treasures gain by wickedness do not profit, but righteousness delivers from mortal danger.” Proverb 10:2

The major concern if not focus is the wages of wickedness is a mortal calamity of those who live this gift called life, carnally and not morally. Within God’s design, all ungodliness is already judged and condemned.

There awaits an impending futuristic day of reckoning, of destruction and disaster of those who are “hard-hearted” are bent toward wickedness as opposed toward God. “Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, But righteousness delivers from death.” Proverbs 11:4

This matter of Godliness is expected of human beings and is equally required of Nations, the quality of being devoutly religious; or having a quality of piety or moral integrity, will make a nation great, but sin is a disgrace to any people. [prarphased rendition of Proverbs 14:34]

Permit me to narrow in on the best definition of the term ‘righteousness‘ as referenced in the Proverb 10:2 text. For many, the term righteousness implies justice and moral goodness.

Yet our passage of scripture uses the term to express the spiritual disposition to do good; to practice goodwill and kindness toward a fellow human being, being charitable while having a genuine love of mankind that impacts lives for God’s glory.

The benevolence of God is one of His moral attributes,

the attribute which delights in the happiness of intelligent beings,

For God is Love! 1 John 4:7-10

The Glories of Agape

Living souls that are spiritually inspired by the Love of God will minister random acts of charity in private and silence, not to seek fame or public recognition.

These behind the scene random acts of kindness and goodwill toward others is how God meets the needs of the millions of souls that are in need of their ‘daily portions or needs.’

Holy Scripture confirms by saying, “Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your store of seed and will increase the harvest of your righteousness.”

You will be enriched in every way to be generous on every occasion, and your giving through us will produce thanksgiving to God…, 2 Cor. 9:10

This heavenly miracle of giving is made possible through the hidden spiritual disciplines of prayer and fasting of the faithful follower before our Heavenly Father!

Charity reveals to the ‘broken’ and unbelieving world, the very nature and motive of the heart of the follower of The Master. For it is only the will, grace, mercy, and power of God working through their willingness to be used to call down from heaven, the very things that are needed by those whom they serving.

There is Nothing Too Hard for God

“Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee.”Jeremiah 32:17

God’s power is limitless in that, there is no promise too hard for God to keep, there is no prayer too hard for God to answer, no problem too hard for God to solve, nor no hard-hearted person too hard for God to save!

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father

Please consider this prayer on today. Wherever we are on today, assist each of us to understand that it is us and not You who has limited power.

Please my Lord God, clean up our unkosher lifestyles and deal aggressively with our unbelieving and Stoney hearts that is bent away from Your Kingdom and all of its righteousness.

Those of us who know You and are forever yoked to You through Christ our Lord, know that nothing good is within any of us, but it is only by Christ’s imputed righteousness in us, that grants us favor in Thy sight.

Those of us who serve in Your Kingdom, are eternally thankful to know that it is by Your hands that supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your store of seed and will increase the harvest of your righteousness.” Amen!

Let each of us be forever mindful of the immediate and longstanding needs that the Colson family has inherited [namely, financial] as a result of Patsy’s noble and courageous fight against cancer and physical death. I pray that those who read this blog post will be moved by God’s Spirit, to give a measure of financial relief in honor of Patsy and her family.
