Let me be one of the first to encourage you to start now toward your 2020 course of action; by revisiting and then planning on implementing some of God’s noble and very practical steps that will completely set you and me apart from the masses this coming traditional New Year.
God’s Children of Light and His Soldiers
If I would submit any worthwhile “mission statement” for the Beloved Community of God for this New Year, it would come out of 1 Thessalonians 5:8: “Putting on Trust and Love as a breastplate and the Hope of Deliverance as a helmet.”
As faithful followers, each of us is God’s children of light and His soldiers, thus we all are expected to always to be awake at all times while maintaining great personal discipline throughout our service to God and others.
1 Thessalonians 5:8 lovingly reminds us that it is God’s faith and His love which acts as our breastplate, serving as our moment by moment protection, of our hearts, our motives, intentions. Such blessed assurance from God is the basis of our individual and collective courage in dong His will in this present evil generation. God’s grace enables us to Give Freely, His Love.
The Hope of our daily salvation is to be worn, moment by moment as a “helmet” upon our heads. For our minds is the constant spiritual battle-ground, as we are all warring against inward and external sins and satanic attacks throughout our time on this earth. Such protection ultimately assures us that we are able to maintain a sincere and pure devotion to Christ as our Lord.
Thessalonica’s Steps that Will Lead to God’s Favor in your Life
It is my prayer that the New Year of 2020 and this new decade will materialize into a blessed season of divine favor upon the Beloved Community of God.
Below are some of the steps that each of us is encouraged to practice as Children of Light in 1 Thessalonians 4:11; 5:14-19.
Action steps of the individual
- Make your ambition to live your life quietly
- Mind your own personal business.
- Earn your living by your own efforts, talents, and labor.
- Seek to be joyful.
- Pray regularly
- See at best, the good in most things, thus learning to give thanks in everything.
- Do not quench the Spirit.
- Do not despise inspired messages.
- Test everything-while holding onto what is good.
- Flee from evil.
These individual steps will guarantee that your freedom and independence within our life is due to the efforts of your hands instead of others.
Action steps toward others
- Attempt to live peacefully with others.
- Lovingly confront those who are lazy, with your intention to help them to change their condition.
- Encourage the timid.
- Assist those who are weak.
- Grow toward learning to be patient with everyone.
- Do not repay evil with evil, do good to one another.

Prayer
I am praying that our Heavenly Father will grant each of us the ability toward obtaining our spiritual maturity in these steps toward basking in His favor for this New Year.
I pray that the Holy Spirit of God will unify and make each of us complete in our service to the Lord, our families, the Beloved Community, and those who are still groping in this world’s darkness.
