Signs of God’s Righteousness
The wisdom that Proverbs 14:34 offers us, American citizens, during our present darkest hours, centers around the hope that when Righteousness exalts a nation, things are much better than when sin is a reproach to any people. This very truth is timeless as is this truth reflective of any room for passivity.
This matter of righteousness exalting a nation is not so much directed at the greatness of the people of that nation, as opposed to the Righteousness of God being bestowed on the earth through Him to those who love Him and honor Him as God.
For righteousness, is one of His major attributes that is granted to His people’s lives that is reflective of their ethical and moral conduct.
One of the most basic demonstrations of worshipping our heavenly Father is noted when all of His faithful are living on earth and are empowered to live a moral lifestyle through the spiritual transformative of the reform of the heart and character of that person. This is how righteous living can reform culture and society as a whole.
This is how “Let Thou will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven” is made manifest! Matt. 6-10
Not that any redeemed soul will ever be righteous in a holy God’s eyes due to their own will, commitment, good works, or personal piety, for God sees only the righteousness of Christ inside the faithful one, as they live out individually and culturally, their faith.
Disclosures of God’s Reproach
An expression, act of rebuke, or disapproval, a cause or occasion of blame, discredit and disgrace, is called a reproach. Our current status and overall condition at present as a Nation defines our moral reproach at many levels. For a nation is ruined when it fails in its total dependence on God. Psalms 33:12 reads, “Blessed is the Nation who God is the Lord.”
Proverbs 29:18 communicates that when there is ignorance of God, the people “Run Wild,” but what a wonderful thing it is for a nation to know and keep His commandments.
Beloved of God, things are not so wonderful in America at present for there is a major moral collapse in every segment of our republic. It is not only directionless people running wild in our culture, but some of the world’s greatest evil and moral atrocities running wild.
False Messiah figures who proclaim Peace
“And I saw when the Lamb broke one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying as with a voice of thunder, “Come.” And I looked, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering, and to conquer.” Rev. 6:1-2
The Son of Man spoke of false rulers, prophets, and shepherds during His earthly life, and His words are so more relevant now than ever. Whether it was in ancient times or the present age, hirelings were warned to watch out for. Disciples of the Master were instructed just how to discern and recognize hirelings. He illustrated this by stating, “a tree is known by its fruit.” Matt. 12:33.
Warning: America’s leaders today, it is not enough to display your external signs of power, privilege, glory, wealth, and authority while totally lacking the ability to bring about peace and tranquility in our ever-growing evil and hostile culture.
Murder, Killing and Rioting
“And when He broke the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come.” And another, a red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to take peace from the earth, and that men should slay one another; and a great sword was given to him.” Rev. 6:3-4
The entire world is without peace. The current events impacting each nation depicts external and internal battlegrounds as each nation, each person is vying to obtain life’s essentials. Many souls now are in survival mode, as multitudes have turned their hearts from God and have waxed cold.
Warning: Just as the Master taught, “Out of the heart comes forth wicked thoughts, murder, adultery and other kinds of sexual immorality, theft, lies slanders. Matt. 15:19
Inequalities of Wealth Distribution and Famine
“And when He broke the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come.” And I looked, and behold, a black horse; and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard as it were a voice in the center of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.” Rev. 6:5-5
Never in all of the world’s history have we seen how just one percent of human beings, controlling at least ninety percent of all the wealth in the earth. Oligarchy and plutocracy rule of the nations control essentially all of the resources at a rate that at any time, millions are enslaved by hunger, poverty, and uncivil immoral conditions worldwide and in America.
Warning: Now there is great gain in godliness with contentment, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs. 1 Timothy 6:6-10
Death and the Grave
“And when He broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come.” And I looked and behold an ashen [sickly, yellowish-green] horse; and he who sat on it had the name Death, and Hades was following with him. And authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, and with famine and with pestilence and by the wild beast of the earth.” Rev. 6:7-8
It is not so difficult to see that the COVID-19 virus of 2020 has been given the authority to infect [as is the case with all of the other three horses], destroy nations, and kill millions with its heartless and non-discriminatory manner. Here in America, this pestilence that we are experiencing is equally exposing us of many of our hidden, shameful underbelly of double standards, injustices, systemic racism, and immoral practices.
Warning: In all of Scripture, sin precedes judgment, and thus is a reproach and not the ultimate will of God. These four horses of the Apocalypse that John records, does not mean the total destruction and or end of the world as we know it.
The term “apocalypse” is apokalypsis, meaning “revelation” or as the title of this blog post expresses, spiritual disclosure of America’s moral condition based upon our sinful condition before God. We can and must do something to stop both the sinfulness of our nation thus this current divine punishment will cease.
In his wonderful book, The Second Mountain: The Quest for a Moral Life, author David Brooks writes about the soulless amorality of our current false humanistic political philosophy of American exceptionalism.
In perhaps one of the greatest quotes of his book, he states that…the belief that you can build a system so perfect that the people in it do not have to be good,” clearly depicts not only arrogance, self-will, and self-sufficiency that has dismissed the need of moral conscience of those who are leaders of our nation. Lord have mercy on us!
Closing Thoughts
The four horsemen of God’s spiritual disclosure to America today are just four of seven seals that John writes and described in Revelation. These four chains of events have been brought to the attention of God and He is not pleased with our willful thirst for conquest power, breakdown of peace, murder, wars, economic injustice, famine and poverty.
God’s grace and long-suffering extended to all living souls at present, as He has allowed worldwide suffering to bring as many as are alive today, to repent while returning to God and His Righteousness.
My recommendation to those who have an ear to hear just what the Spirit of God is saying to souls in America is to be in the system but did not part of the system. The willful unmasking of our social, political, economic, and religious reproaches, offers those who are called out to completely invest in the following eternal things of the Kingdom of God.
- The Eternal Word of God, for it, is the supreme source of instruction in every condition that we are to face while remaining faithful witnesses.
- Prayer and worship to God’s throne of Glory, and the original Holy Sanctuary. He will worthy of our continued prayers and worship for He alone is God. His Sovereignty and provisional rulership in our lives and all of creation is His delight.
- A mindful if not spiritual awareness of the New Heaven and earth to come in the future, and all of the rewards and wonderful eternal benefits associated with the eternal life to come.
- A moment by moment spiritual sensitivity toward repentance and our willful return to God due to our need for divine forgiveness.
- Deeper alliance to the Messiah who has overcome this world while enduring and having victory over the wrath of God on our behalf through death and the grave. He alone is the example of what it looks like to be a “faithful witness” for God and His righteousness while living on earth
Prayer
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.
This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, … 1 Timothy 2:1-15 Amen!
