Preface
There are three ancient essential truths in association with the importance and the power of Prayer:
In the days of His fleshly incarnation, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to the One who was able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of his reverent submission. Although He was a Son, He learned obedience through what He suffered. –Heb. 5:7-8
This Hebrew 5:7-8 speaks to our newly reformed if not transformational spiritual identity that is instinctively the need for the believer to commune/ or pray deeply with the Lord our God without ceasing whether it is day or night.
Second, to effectively pray without ceasing, the calling of prayer is without question, a beautiful privatized expression of intimacy between the Creator and His child. Before Him no creature is hidden, but all are naked and laid bare to the eyes of the One to whom we must render an account. –Heb. 4:13
Last, the ultimate objective measure of the willful faithfulness of any disciple of the Master is the intentionally of the will toward Christlikeness, there is no greater mark than prayer! Guard your steps when you go to the house of God; to draw near to listen is better than the sacrifice of fools…never be rash with your mouth, nor let your heart be quick to utter a word before God, for God is in heaven, and you upon the earth; therefore let your words be few. –Eccl. 5:1-2
Battle Ready Prayer and Petitions [A compilation of over thirty Scripture references of prayer and supplication]
Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. May my prayer be set before You like incense;
may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice? Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Hear my prayer, Lord; listen to my cry for mercy. Answer me when I call to You, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer. Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. The Lord has heard my cry for mercy; the Lord accepts my prayer.
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Therefore let all the faithful pray to You while you may be found; surely the rising of the mighty waters will not reach them. Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting holy hands without anger or disputing. “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.” “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in My name, there am I with them.”
He will respond to the prayer of the destitute; He will not despise their plea. But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weaknesses. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear, but God has surely listened
and has heard my prayer. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!
If my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.
The Lord is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous. Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting holy hands without anger or disputing. Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near.
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Pray continually.
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting holy hands without anger or disputing. The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.
Evening, morning, and noon I cry out in distress, and He hears my voice. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. Amen.
