Our feature Scripture for today is John 13:34.
“I am giving you a new command; that you keep on loving each other. In the same way that I have loved you, you are also to keep on loving each other.”
Preface
Never before is there a need for us to abide in the care and healing of the love of God. This blog is a brief reminder and spiritual encouragement for us to willfully, remain forever yoked to Christ in these trying times.
What Does God’s Love Looks Like
The love that Christ proclaims and offers to humanity is a supernatural blessing. This blessing allows humanity to know that God offers any willing soul, the opportunity, to experience a new spiritual life out of death, and into Life! This spiritual Love of God within humanity identifies us to the world, as one of His disciples.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:30-31
Life-changing and soul transformational love comes to us only from God. Our purpose within our lives is to love God and others with Christ’s agape [love]. This agape or the unconditional love of God is not a feeling or a special way of feeling.
Agape is the divine way that God desires for His people to be related to one another in every way for the good.
The biblical and moral concept of love differs from “Western culture!” Most of us have “loved” someone by approving their “Desires and Decisions” while assisting them in fulfilling them. We all have heard this sentiment, “If you love me you will do what I want.”
Within the biblical worldview, to love people means to favor what is good for them and to be prepared to help them toward that, even if that means disapproving of their desires and decisions and attempting, as appropriate, to prevent their fulfillment. [This segment about the biblical/moral concept of love was gleaned from Lectures on Systematic Theology, Charles Finney]
The blessed gift of God’s agape to humanity is through His Life-giving Word. Anyone who wishes to partake and maintain the wholeness of their soul-care will know exactly what the “Good” and the “Desired” are from the Holy Scriptures. God is the supplier of what is the very best for the soul-care needs of His people. If in fact, God is love, then everything concerning human nature is rooted in the very nature of God our Creator. We are image-bearers of the Living God!
The Heart of the Matter
Our faulty souls are in constant need of deliverance, primarily from ourselves as opposed to the world. Wholeness and corrected image of our divine nature are accomplished by a personal relationship with God established in His Love and Power. The essential part of this relationship is the Holy Scriptures.
The Holy Scriptures are the essential meeting place between God and His people who are made complete only in our ability to maintain the covenant relationship in God. God is the only true restorer of souls.
Our greatest challenge today, and the days to come is our willful obedience to the fusion of the application of the Law of God [His Torah, the Wisdom Books, and The New Covenant]. With the Word of God, His grace will empower each of us to continue toward complete spiritual transformation. Amen
