A Better Pathway to God
For this reason, Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant. Hebrews 9:15
Hebrews 9:15 is a verse from the New Covenant of the Hebrew Bible that contains significant spiritual truths within the context of Renewed Covenant theology. This splendid verse is part of a more significant passage discussing the superiority of the New Covenant established through Jesus Christ compared to the Old Covenant established through the Mosaic law and the sacrificial system of the Old Covenant.
Somewhat as a necessary disclaimer to those who are reading this blog, let me boldly proclaim that without the foundational Biblical and spiritual importance of knowledge of the Old Covenant, there is not any New Covenant. In essence, the New Covenant is a spiritually induced and progressive descriptive commentary of the Old Covenant.
In addition, this blog post is not any attempt to elevate any Western Christian replacement theology over the Biblical integrity of the Hebrew Scriptures.
Messiah as God’s Heavenly Bridge for His People
The central spiritual truths associated with Hebrews 9:15 initially reveal Messiah as the mediator of the New Covenant between the Creator and humanity. What a divine blessing that Christ is the heavenly bridge between God and His people while providing renewed access to God’s blessed gift of grace and salvation!
Next, this verse represents a renewed and better pathway of relating to God Almighty in comparison to the Old Covenant which was established through the faithful leadership of Moses. The good news of the New Covenant is that it is centered on grace, forgiveness, and the ongoing redemptive work of the Messiah.
God’s heirs of His Kingdom are granted the promise of eternal inheritance. The magnificence of the New Covenant promises each faithful believer an eternal inheritance, which refers to the continuous blessings and rewards that come from being in this beloved atonement relationship with God through our Messiah. It is this inheritance that includes eternal life, reconciliation with our Heavenly Father, and all of His spiritual blessings.
The continuous manifestation of the progressive nature of the New Covenant within the lives of God’s faithful ones in our current space and time is noted in the powerful results of Messiah’s death in the lives of God’s people.
Messiah’s death supernaturally is a ransom, thus paying the required price for humanity’s sins committed under the Old Covenant. In addition, the New Covenant action of redemption finally sets faithful believers free from the insidious bondage of sin and all of its consequences. Amen
In addition, all of the sins committed under the Old Covenant required a divine solution. God’s progressive plan of redemption is actualized by Messiah’s sacrifice. It is His faithful submission to death that provides forgiveness for past, present, and future sins. Such an act on the part of our Savior, reverses our separation from God to our being reconciled with God.
The importance of Messiah’s sacrifice serves as the most profound central aspect of the Renewed Covenant of God. His sacrifice serves as a final and ultimate divine ultimate offering required of the Father, thus replacing the need for the reputation of animal sacrifice under the Mosiac law.
What is more important than grace and salvation?
The letter of Hebrews 9:15 showcases the profound gracious nature of our Heavenly Father’s plan of salvation. How so you may ask? It is through Messiah’s sacrifice which spiritually affirms faithful believers the assurance of forgiveness and eternal life. Such blessedness is not granted by personal merit but through God’s divine design of unmerited favor.
Overall, Hebrews 9:15 highlights the transformative nature of the new covenant brought about by Christ’s sacrifice, emphasizing themes of redemption, freedom from sin, and the promise of eternal life through faith in Jesus.
Here are some of the significant spiritual blessings that believers in Christ are commonly believed to receive as the spiritual heirs of the inheritance of Christ and the Kingdom of God.

Some Additional aspects of Our Inheritance
Our inheritance is future glory with Christ, including all the rewards promised to us for eternity. This inheritance is described in 1 Peter 1:4 as “imperishable, undefiled, and unfading.”
In our glorious future, there will be no more death, crying, or pain, but only joy and pleasure forever in God’s presence. The things that God has prepared for those who love Him will eclipse even the wildest imagination (1 Corinthians 2:9).
An aspect of this inheritance includes Christ giving some of his authority to believers to rule and reign with Him (Revelation 3:21, 20:4; 1 Corinthians 6:3). Amen
Closing Comments
The New Covenant portrays Jesus Christ as God’s “firstborn” Son who holds the “birthright” and is the heir of all the Father has. God has given Christ all of creation as a gift because all was created for Him. The inheritance that Christ receives includes believers, those whom the Father has given to the Son.
Every faithful Believer is co-heir with Christ, which states that believers have been given the privilege of sharing Christ’s inheritance. As adopted sons/daughters of God, faithful followers are treated as firstborn heirs. Our inheritance includes present and future blessings. Amen
Grace and Peace
