Happy New Year
“The blowing of the shofar represents a cry to awaken our souls and remind us of our purpose in life.” – Unknown
At sunset tonight, Rosh Hashanah begins the marking of the “Head of the Year” and thus is the beautiful opportunity for each enlightened soul to begin shaping one’s spiritual direction for the year ahead.
The Household of God will be given this season for introspection and repentance, as our collective inner spiritual ears tune into the soulful sounds of the shofar’s heavenly blasts.
The call of the Shofar admonishes each faithful follower of absolute truth to reflect on our personal and corporate Body Life responsibilities and our needs as the united Body of Messiah, Jewish and non-Jewish alike.
The sounding of the Shofar assures that we all are collectively encouraged to maintain the essence of this divinely established season by enjoying all of the greatness of God’s sovereignty over His creation, and His people who are called by by His Holy Name.
From the Rosh Hashanah liturgy–
“On Rosh Hashanah, it is written, and on Yom Kippur, it is sealed. Who will live and who will die, who will see ripe age and who will not, who will perish by fire and who by water, who by sword and who by beast, who by famine and who by thirst, who by earthquake and who by plague, who by strangling and who by stoning, who will have rest and who will wander, who will be at peace and who will be pursued, who will be at rest and who will be tormented, who will be exalted and who will be brought low...”
Grace and Peace

The spiritual significance of the Shofar encompasses the various themes of awakening, repentance, communal unity, anticipation of divine redemption and judgment, and greater intimacy with our loving Heavenly Father.
