Psalm 25:1-2;4-5,7
I lift my inner being to You, Adonai;
I trust You, my God.
Make me know Your ways, Adonai, teach me Your paths,
for Your paths are grace and truth.
Guide me in Your truth, and teach me;
for You are the God who saves me, my hope is in You all day.
Remember me according to Your grace for the sake of Your goodness dear Lord!
Some spiritual and practical lessons within these passages:
Psalm 25:1-2 David lifts his soul to God, not to vanity or idols. He declares his trust in God while asking Him not to let him be ashamed or defeated by his enemies.
For you and me, this passage teaches us to rely only on God’s Name while constantly seeking His protection in every area of our lives.
Psalm 25:4-5 David asks God to show him His ways, teach him His paths, and lead him in His truth. He acknowledges that God is the source of his salvation and waits on Him all day.
For everyday faithful followers, we too must have a strong desire for God’s will and learn from His life-giving Word. We also can learn to only depend on God’s grace and wait patiently on God’s timing in delivering His promises to our lives.
Psalm 25:7 David pleads with God to remember not his sins of his youth or his transgressions, but to remember him according to His mercy and goodness. He confesses his sinfulness and appeals to God’s character.
The wonderful truth within this passage encourages each of us to daily repent of our sins and trust in God’s forgiveness. We also are invited to constantly praise God for His endless love and to have an active hope in His promises for the entirety of our lives. Amen
Grace and Peace
