"A Living Soul Cannot Live On Bread Alone"

Breaking Up Fallow Ground

May 2, 2021 by Alonzo Thornton
  • And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

One of my ongoing prayers to my Heavenly Father is located in Hosea, Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you. Hosea 10:12 This prayer is a prayer for our country America as we continue to grapple with very complex socio-political, economic, and moral crises in our Nation.

It is by faith and God’s supernatural grace that the Beloved Community can still sow spiritual seeds of God’s righteousness in the hardened soils [hearts] of oppression, deception, insult, and brute force of aggression in America and other nations in the world.

These concepts and actual realities were gleaned from this link: https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/542308-how-shall-integrity-face-oppression-what-shall-honesty-do-in, and are the quotes of W.E.B. Dubois.

Either by the lack of belief or by the sheer will of misguided human nature, the increased assaults of multitudes of people acting out of selfish impulse sowing all sorts of evil and civil if not moral distress while blinded by the reality that: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. Galatians 6:7-8

Through the spiritual miracle of regeneration, followers of the Messiah now are His representative of manifesting spiritual fruits/works that represent the most welcome current realities of aspects of the Kingdom of God. One may say that warring kingdoms are vying for the loyalty and service of each human soul.

The essence of this blog post is to proclaim that only God has the power to expose the seeds of systemic evil in every form of oppression in the heart of humanity and its cultural constructs by birthing out of the contrite heart, Integrity, wholeness, and honor.

This is equally true with lies and the spirit of deception that is in full effect, who but God can birth honesty, uprightness, and sincerity in the character of His redeemed people.

For the cultural trend of impudence, discourtesy, and abuse, the people of God are exemplary in the manifestation of decency, reasonable, and chasteness.

With the escalation of fear running amok, there is a growing reality that martial law may become the norm. Thus from the seed of brute force, only God can produce within the Beloved Community the spiritual fortitude of courage and valor even in the presence of the shadow of death and evil.

The great takeaway is that now is the appointed time in which God has willed into existence for the miracle of spiritual regeneration to come about for millions. Throughout the entirety of the Holy Scriptures, the theme of “fallow ground” is discussed and is of grave concern throughout God’s ultimate plan of redemption.

In essence, fallow ground implies, to break up, freshly till). Land [our hearts, will, spirits] that is left idle for a season after plowing and harrowing, so that weeds and insects are killed while the soil regains its fertility.

It is my prayer that the Holy Spirit of God will supernaturally “break up your/mine fallow ground. during this season,” in the miracle of becoming increasingly active spiritually in where ever God has you placed or planted you. [this definition was gleaned from the ENCYCLOPEDIA OF THE BIBLE – FALLOW (GROUND)

The necessary steps toward spiritual regeneration are noted in Hosea 10:12

Sow to yourselves in righteousness. — Each of us is to exercise ourselves in the works of righteousness and holiness, in the performance of all duties due both to God and man. For what is the greatest of all commandments? You are to love your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself. Do that and you will live. Luke 10:25-28

Reap in mercy — By faithfully waiting on God’s grace and mercy, will, in due time, bestow an abundant reward upon you.

Break up your fallow ground — Our hearts are as ground overrun with weeds, which have need to be plowed and broken up by conviction, humiliation, and godly sorrow for sin, that good seed may be sown in them.

Prayer

For now, is the appointed season for increased and authentic spiritual transformation; now that all of life’s troubles are near;  we boldly seek the face of the Lord. Please, my Lord, reveal Your presence to us Your people as You desire to reconcile us and grant peace with You, to seek Your divine favor and conformity to Your will.

We delight in seeking after You in our coming and going, with earnest desire and persevering diligence. Father continue to use us as Your special people during this appointed season. We welcome the increase of the Spirit and grace as we continue on the path of Righteousness in Your namesake, Amen.
