"A Living Soul Cannot Live On Bread Alone"

Sojourning in a Strange Land

March 6, 2022 by Alonzo Thornton

Preface

All chosen vessels of this generation, who have unwavering faith in Christ essentially are citizens of two realms; heaven, and earth. Earth is the place in which we are redeemed into union with God through Christ yet while abiding in Christ in this age, we essentially are sojourners, aliens that are scattered throughout the world.

Separated unto God through Christ one may ask what are the most important spiritual responses that the Body of Christ are called to demonstrate in this age as we all wait for the return of Christ?

The first is to maintain an unshakeable living hope day in and out regardless of trial, temptation, and testing. Next, is to live a holy lifestyle before this world to reflect and honor God on the earth.

Today’s blog post is a moral and practical exegetical reinterpretation of the ancient text of 1 Peter 1:3-25 for the modern-day Beloved Community in Messiah.

Grace and Peace

Living Hope

Beloved, always celebrate this life by praising the Creator, the owner of all things who is the Heavenly Father of our Lord, the Messiah, the anointed One from above. For it is according to His great compassion, He has given us a begotten New Life, with expectation, trust through the resurrection of Christ Jesus from ‘lifelessness”.

Within this New Life, we also are heirs to a heritage, possession to share eternal blessedness that is immortal, free from contamination, kept in the spiritual heavens for each of us. Each faithful one is being protected, literally hem in, preserved by God’s miraculous strength, deeds, and works. In addition, through your fidelity for welfare, prosperity, deliverance, and safety that is prepared, is being uncovered by “light” in these end extreme times.

You are to exult greatly in this though now for a short time you have had to struggle with pain, grief, and various trials, calamities, afflictions so that the genuineness of such trials are found approved by our faithfulness. Such faith is more valuable than gold, which perishes though refined, may result in praise, approval, glory, and honor at the unveiling of Christ Jesus.

This very generation of faithful followers of Christ, deeply loves Him, though we have not seen Him! Even though by not seeing Him now, we believe in Him and rejoice with inexpressible and glorious joy, because we are receiving the goal of our faith, which is the salvation of our souls.

With this salvation, the ancient prophets who prophesied about the grace that would come to us searched and carefully investigated. They inquired into what season or what circumstances the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating when He testified to the Messianic suffering and the glories that would follow.

It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but us. These things have now been announced to us through those who preached the Gospel. This Gospel, the announcement of good news to instruct humanity concerning the things that pertain to the spiritual rebirth and regeneration of souls, by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Angels, God’s supernatural messengers, desire, covet to look intently into these things.

A Call to Holy Living

Beloved, with your minds, ready to grid up, by becoming free from illusion, selfish passions, greed, and set your expectation completely on the gifts and blessings of Christ to be brought to you at the revelation of Christ Jesus.

Faithfully practicing obedience fully dependent on the Heavenly Father not to be conformed to the lust of our former willful blindness. We now are subjected to the One who summons us to be set apart by and for God, holy, sacred. We equally are to be holy in all of our dealings with others, within this life, our behavior, and all matter pertaining this our lives as sojourners and aliens. Has it not been written, “Be holy, because I am Holy?”

If you address or call upon our Heavenly Father, who judges without preference, based on each of our works, you are to conduct yourself in reverence during the time of your sojourning in a strange land. We were released on receipt of ransom, liberation from our previous vain and ineffective godless way of life, which was inherited from our families.

Our spiritual redemption came about not with corruptible things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, who like that of a Lamb, was innocent, while being sacrificed without blemish.

As the Lamb of God, He was chosen before the foundation of worldly affairs, and inhabitants of this world, but was revealed at the extreme of time and season. Therefore all humanity who through Him are faithful in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him splendor and glory, so that our faith and hope are in God.

Continue to be forever mindful of that irrevocable reality that all human nature in this space and time is like herbage, and the whole of its renown is like a bloom of grass. The grass is waste away, and the bloom is fruitless, but the spoken promises of the Lord abides forever.

And this is the word of promise that was the Good News of good tidings expressed to you. Amen

Grace and Peace
